A Late Night

Serif went to naptime just before 3:00 today. We tried to wake him up just after 5:00 and then repeatedly every 20 minutes or so until we finally decided to turn his lights out and let him sleep for the night. I guess that was around 8:00. Jeff an I headed to bed around around 9:15 and about 15 minutes later here comes the boy. Not tired at all.

So it's now 10:00 pm and here he is . . . eating his dinner and watching Finding Nemo. We're in for a long night.

Rambling

Everyone has a birthday when they go number to number. You stop growing when you get older and God says stop. Jesus is our boss. Jesus last name is God. Jesus and God are our boss. Only Jesus and Ms. Sandra are the boss. Everyone needs a boss.

God is like my last name, Godby! You can call me Godby, Serif or Serif Godby.

A Thank You

We were writing a thank you to a girl who we rent from in Florida. I asked Serif to draw her a picture and told him he could draw whatever he wanted, then threw out some beachy ideas. He got everything ready and said, "I'm going to draw an astronaut!" Then a few minutes later he shows me this. He said he changed his mind and he drew Eva (from Wall-e) instead! I had him write her name and his so Mrs. Staci would know exactly who it is and who it is from. What a nice job!

Serif doesn't typically show a high interest in art and often prefers to do other things instead so we don't see his ability to draw very often. This actually impressed me that it was such clear form. His skills are really developing nicely! I think he must do more at school than we see.

Nice and Warm

We were heading out for school this morning and the temperatures have suddenly dropped from low 80's to 50's.
today is also the day of his Trike-a-thon for St Jude. They do this annually at his school. I told him it was cool out and he'd need long sleeves and a jacket. He got out to the porch (coat unzipped ) and said "I forgot my scarf!" He ran in and got it then asked for mittens and a hat! He got back outside and said "Mommy, it looks like I'm ready for snow!" Yep! Ha!

I had to get his picture and when I got it ready to snap he said, "Mommy! Send this to Ms. Lindsay and Aunt Gerrie!" ;)

A Lesson on Ironing

Short pants

Serif got himself dressed this morning and when I went in to check on him I found that his pants are suddenly so short! Glad it's getting to be shorts weather!

A hungry caterpillar, chalk, an alligator and superman

Jeff was working in the yard tonight so serif and I joined him after dinner. Well outside at least. Serif was cutting the grass with scissors until he saw me get the chalk out for the chalkboard.




I started drawing the food from "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" book and told him what I was doing. He told me I forgot watermelon so he came over the draw it.




Then salami.




Then he started drawing this "tall guy" that is "as tall as the bird poop." (At the center top of the chalkboard). Ha!




The alligator was on a roll.












He then whispers to me that he wants to draw Wreck-it Ralph.




So he does. But he's much smaller.




Our finished piece. He also drew the blue mouse that's eating the cheese.




Then we went next door to Ms. Bagget's.




He had to go get a bear she let him borrow a month ago and cams back as superman.




Then Jeff got socked. :)

First time sick

Serif got sick yesterday for the first time in his life. I mean, he's been sick but has never thrown up (besides your typical baby spit up). There's been so much going around his school that I guess he finally got it. Thankfully it was just a short term thing. He ate a decent dinner tonight and has been running around almost like nothing ever happened.

It has obviously affected him some though because every time I'd offer him something to eat, he would tell me no and that it may make him throw up again. Ha! We've had lots of fresh fruit smoothies, toast and tea with honey and cinnamon. I think he'll be ready for milk again tomorrow.

I'm so glad this happened at home on a weekend and not at school. He seemed off at lunch Saturday when he didn't want his lunch. He said he was hungry but he didn't want to eat. Weird and not like him. At nap time he felt a little warm when I kissed his forehead. He fell asleep right away and when he got up we went to the farmers market. The whole time he seemed a little sluggish and kept asking if we could go now. He said his stomach hurt. I offered to go ahead and buy bananas so he could have one for a snack. I figured since he hadn't eaten much he was probably starving. He ate a few bites of it then kept repeating to go home. I quickly finished up and we headed home. When we got home, he got out of the car and walked around to the trunk to show daddy the watermelon he got but as soon as he came over he got sick everywhere. Poor guy didn't know what was going on. Once that was over he started feeling a better. Later he talked about other kids in his class getting sick. I guess he's seen it plenty but has never experienced it until now. It's funny because now he wants to tell people about it. I think it somehow made a pretty big impact on him. I don't think he'll be forgetting about this for a while. Just glad he's better.

A Kite from Granddaddy!

I was getting off work Friday when I got a call from my dad. He was in Nashville at East Park Community Center and asked if I'd be home. I drive by there everyday on my way home so it was perfect timing to stop by!
I picked Serif up from school and headed on over.


Serif was so excited to see him! He gave Serif a bag with some Easter goodies inside and boy was it a hit! Serif was so hungry when I picked up that the treats were immediately torn open and eaten. Then came the big hit . . . A kite!


The weather was perfect! The sun was out, the wind was blowing and the temperature was somewhere in the 60's. Gorgeous!


It's been a long time since serif has flown kite and he took to it right away. He ran around forever! He had to stop quite a few times to catch his breathe and regain energy to keep going. It was do fun to watch him.


One thing I've never really noticed with him is that tongue! Later, as I flipped through the photos, I noticed him running with his tongue out. Ha! I remember hearing about Jeff doing that as a kid. I thought it was pretty cute. I guess it's how he deals with the heavy concentration.


Towards the end of the visit he got to play on the playground. He has more fun. Thank you, Dad, for calling to meet up and thank you for his goodies and kite! It was obviously a hit! We love you dearly!!!
