Happy Foot

I got Serif buckled in the car yesterday morning and then got in and started the car. The radio came on to REM "The End of the World." I put my sunglasses on and put the car in reverse when I hear Serif say, "Mommy. My left foot likes this song! It was just sitting there and then it started wagging. It likes it!"

Serif and the Barbies

Recently at a birthday party for a friend of Serif's we went to Shipwrecked Playhouse. It's a cool place for birthday parties with a ship in the middle (complete with two slides), ball pit, oversized play tables for trains, another for cars, dress up areas, etc. they also had a big dollhouse with various Barbies. Serif was a bit shy about playing, much less playing with anything by himself, but right before dinner and cake, he discovered the dollhouse. he really liked it. when he was done eating he asked if he could go back to the playroom to play. Michelle and i finished up and walked back only to discover this:

what makes this so funny (and awesome) is they were fully clothed before dinner. he was giddy over them being naked! he had a proud, curious, "look what i did, daddy," smile when we came in – like he thought it might be wrong, yet couldn't resist either (i know the feeling, buddy). after a few minutes of (naked) Barbie play, he took a break to go get a little Lightning McQueen push car. realizing it was a bit to small for him, he thought the Barbies should go for a ride.

mommy and i thought it might be a good idea if the Barbies got dressed so all the parents, who we didn't know, wouldn't get the wrong idea about us and the boy. oh, and i discovered i'm not to good at that part. those little snaps are hard. we got them dressed and he moved on, finally getting brave enough to do the slides and ball pit. loved the ball pit. all in all, a VERY fun evening. thanks Lilli (and Lilli's folks)!

A rocket for the buzz wings

Serifs been waiting for us to finish this roll of paper towels so he could make a rocket for his buzz wings. I happened to be at the right place at the right time at work when someone was getting ready to throw out this sturdy tube. I brought it home and Serif could hardly wait to start the project. These are so simple to make. I just rolled construction paper and added some Elmer's glue for the tip. The flames are just tissue paper from my gift wrapping supplies. He's ecstatic! :) He's had the wings for quite some time. That's just cardboard (that he colored) and twine.

Electric Eels in the bath tub!

We bought all these glow in the dark necklaces for camping, then never used them. We spotted them in the closet this afternoon and decided to put them in the bath as eels! Serifs really in to the movie, "How to train your dragon" right now. Dragons don't like eels. This should be fun! ;)

Double ear infection

Well, we went to the doctor this morning and it's confirmed that Serif has an ear infection in each ear. 10 days of amoxicillin and ibuprofen.
