I'm under an intense deadline at work and I have no idea how everything is going to get done despite my best efforts. I've asked for help from my boss as well as the architect I'm working with and all I'm getting is a blank stare or "Um there's really not anyone." In other words, yeah good luck with that. So, I've been working 9-11 hour days and working weekends. Thankfully Jeff isn't too swamped and can take care of the boy.
Yesterday, I was literally laughing out loud at all the emails I was getting from the engineers, client and reps. I've not been able to get anything done this week during normal business hours. When i got a moment break from all the craziness, I sat back in my chair and opened myself a Dove dark chocolate. These are my favorite and I always enjoy reading the saying inside each one. This particular one that I had opened read, "cover yourself." Speaking of laughing outloud . . . HA! I know these things are as silly as fortune cookies but there have been times I feel like I'm really being spoken to. This was definitely one of those times. Now the real truth is I accidentally tore some of the saying off as I unwrapped it and didn't realize it right away; It really said "Discover yourself." I still laughed even at that because I guess either way it was telling me something that I've been telling myself. I guess we can just say this was a moment of confirmation.

A few fun photos
His outfit for school Friday. I lucked up and found this batman shirt (with attached cape) at target the other day. It was supposed have pants so they marked it down to $3. I love it when I find stuff like this! I think it's technically pajamas but who cares. He did have to take the cape off for school though. Didn't want to take the chance of it getting torn or lost.
His crown he made at church this morning; Oh and his "Buddy" feet. (Dinosaur Train). I had to work today so Jeff sent me this photo text.
His nap today, in his dinosaur outfit. He watched "Land Before Time" this afternoon and I guess it gave him the dinosaur itch again.
His first time riding in a "car-t" at our Publix trip tonight. He loved it and did great (except for all the "I want that!"). It was surprisingly not too bad to maneuver.

"Where does Jesus live?"
We just read our bed-time books and turned out the moonlight to lay down and go to sleep. I put my arm around Serif and began to pray with him. Before I finished my prayer Serif asked, "Mommy, where does Jesus live?" It took me by surprise. I told him he lived in heaven and I began to explain how high we were in the plane when we went to Florida. I told him heaven was even higher than that! He got wide eyed and then said, but where is he with me . . . and you . . . here? I was dumbfounded that his little mind was thinking about all of this. I put my hand over his chest and told him that Jesus is in his heart and my heart and daddy's heart. I said that he watches over us all the time and just as his bible verse says, "Jesus is always with us." He smiled and said, "Yeah!" and he laid back down and covered up to go to sleep.
It's weird to think about him getting old enough to start all these questions. I pray I give him good direction and solid quick answers. I'm big on analogies and try to explain things to him as clearly as I can in terms that I feel he will grasp on to. The story of Christ is tough to explain. It's simple really but somehow feels complicated when trying to decipher the details to a three year old.
Before our last story tonight I clipped his nails. In effort to get his mind off the clipping, I told him to tell me a story. He immediately told me about the "mean guys that were mean to Jesus and they died him on the cross." I asked what happened next and he said, "Jesus needed a really big band-aid for his died." I asked him if he knew the next part of the story. He thought a minute and said no. I explained the resurrection to him and told him how good God is to us and how thankful we are that he takes such good care of us. Perhaps this is what triggered the conversation about where he lives. I don't know but am glad he's inquisitive and asking the questions.
God, give me wisdom and words. - Amen.

It's nap time, Mon.
Jeff and I got Serif this hat last summer when we went to Jamaica for our anniversary. Its a knit hat with black dreadlocks coming down. He sadly never got in to it much until this weekend when he rediscovered it. He has since been wearing it at quiet time. It's so funny that he's actually sleeping in it!

The Iron Giant
Serifs new movie addiction, "The Iron Giant." Jeff printed this picture of him on the head of his bed the other night and he loves it!
Before bed tonight, I let him draw. When asked what he wanted to draw, of course it was none other than The Iron Giant. He asked me to draw it first then he drew it. He was intimidated at first but we broke it down into shapes. He did a fantastic job.
