Poop and Prizes

I never thought I'd give prizes for anyone going poop in the potty, but recently we've found it to be a pretty good tool for the second half of potty training.

Last week, Serif had a stomach bug and we finally got him to go in the potty. It took luring of a lollipop to do it, but it worked! We couldn't have been more proud of him! He's been doing better since then but we've still got a ways to go. Lots of praise and prizes seem to be doing the trick for now. We've decided were just going for it at this point.



Serif was taking a bath tonight when he suddenly said, "i gotta go poop." Once he said it was okay, I hurried and got him out of the tub and put him on the potty. He did it! Yahoo!!!! He got a purple lollipop and a monkey plate! When he told Jeff what he did, he said, "I poop a big snake!" . . . awesome. Hehe.

Then he started acting like Popeye, "ARRRRrrrrrr!"

Reality Check

I just got Serif from school and as we were on our way home, he says, "Mommy, we go see a play." I replied with a yes we did and reminded him of the "Goodnight Moon" play we saw in winter. I then proceeded to tell him that we were going to see Seasame Street next weekend and he responded, "I want to go see Alice,"

All Smiles

Serif got out of the bath tonight and decided he wanted to dry himself off, this was the first. He started wrapping the towel around his face to hide, then would open his arms and look at me and giggle. The hood on the towel would pull his eyes and create a funny face. He felt it pull and I would look at him with skewed eyes and he would crack up. It was a fun time that I just wanted to record.

June 4 - Today's Quotes

This morning Serif told Jeff, "I got a bug bite yesterday." This evening we were watching snippets of "Yo Gabba Gabba" and after seeing the Tony Hawk clip he said, "I want to do that next week." (speaking of skateboarding). It was so strange to hear him capture the sense of time and to understand it enough to use the words correctly.
