Well, today was the big day for Davidson County lottery schools. The first pull happened today. We signed Serif up for three schools: Lockeland (2 blocks from our house and obvious first choice), Dan Mills (still in East Nashville but about a 10 minute drive) and Eakin (in Hillsboro Village, about a 15-20 minute drive).
We just checked to see which (if any) Serif got in to and the winner is . . . Eakin. Yep, the one furthest away, completely out of our neighborhood and bottom of our list. We are grateful that he got in to at least one of the schools but so disappointed that it wasn't the one in our back yard.
He landed sixth on the waiting list for Lockeland and Dan Mills. Jeff is peeved but I don't think it's too bad. I mean 6 is a low number right? Well, we'll see. We accepted the position at Eakin but still keeping our fingers crossed for the next pull in March.
As much as we love our neighborhood. It really takes a lot of the romance out when you can't walk your kid to the school that is just 2 blocks from your house. The school that we hear all the kids on the playground when we go outside our house in the afternoons. The school named after our neighborhood and the original spring sits about 50 yards from our back deck. So disappointed.
Well, all we can do at this point is pray the next pull goes better. There are several more before the school year starts. We'll be prepping our house for the last minute "for sale" sign and searching the real estate apps for the next phase of our lives. Praying for God's direction, 'cause we sure don't know what it is right now. 2014 is going to be a very interesting year.
The calendar was tough to locate on the website so I'm posting this :
March 26 - 2nd pull letters mailed
May 28 - 3rd pull letters mailed
July 2 - 4th pull letters mailed
Final will be the first week of school.
Nerve racking.
