The Mohawk

My Blogger Ap failed me about a month ago and if finally fixed!!! So here's the post that I should've been posted on August 2nd.









I was having a hard time getting Serif motivated to get ready for school, so I offered him a mohawk. He jumped up and ran for the bathroom for mousse! He then finished getting ready with no hesitation! He stayed in a great mood all day! I didn't know a mohawk could do all of that! He may be wearing this more often! he went right in to daycare, went potty, washed his hands and (instead of the normal clinch at my knees with, "I want mommy!") he immediately went in to class, grabbed a toy guitar and started playing away! He never even saw me leave!

Later, I was picking him up from school and I walked in to this . . .








and he was playing with a firetruck. I thought it was an interesting juxtaposition of interest myself. He was so proud of this skirt that he gladly posed for a picture to send to daddy. He wanted to wear the skirt home but I talked him in to leaving it so he could wear it again later. Sure enough, I picked him up today to find the same thing. Hehe.

Apparently this is Serif's favorite dress-up apparel at school; this skirt and a yellow shirt (of which is not wearing in this photo.). Check out his hair! He actually still has some of it sticking up! We did pretty good with the product on this one! I didn't realize how long his hair was getting until fixing his hair. Wow!

The Great Reward

A few weeks ago we decided to try to encourage Serif to poop in the potty. I called the doctor to get a few tips and one thing he said was to do a reward system.

Serif and I decided to create a "potty chart" together and we hung it in the bathroom. every time he pees in the potty, he gets a sticker. The 5th pee sticker gets a lollipop. Every time he goes poop in the potty he gets a sticker and a lollipop. When he collects five of the poop stickers, we take him to the store and get a reward. When I asked what he'd like to get, he said, "A trumpet!"

Last week, he finally went in the potty, I guess it just clicked with him. He's not pooped in his pants since! Last night was the first 5th sticker! Unfortunately it was too late to take him to the store, so today we took off work a little early and took him to Phillips Toy Mart and got him his trumpet. He was so excited and has already picked out the next reward, a microphone! We also started a new chart specifically for the next reward!
