Aunt Shannon & Uncle Don do it again.

Tonight Serif got to go to the first Predators pre-season game of this season with his Aunt Shannon and Uncle Don. They just texted us these photos. check it out!

A New Chapter

An evening with the guitar

Serif played with his guitar all night. I could barely get him in the bath and once I did, he didn't stay in very long. He was too anxious to get back out and play it some more!

Once I got him out, I wrapped him in the towel and gave him his guitar. I laid him down on the changing table to lotion him and I find him holding it like an upright base and just picking away; but with it came a "bow" mouth movement. It was hilarious! I know he picked it up from the band at The Red Bar. It was priceless! I'm so sad that I couldn't get a photo or video of it and I pray it stays in my memory forever!

All the books we read before bed were the ones with musical buttons and he never put the guitar down the entire time. When it came time to turn out the lights, I tried to take the guitar and trade it for Mr. Hubert or the glow-worm, but he wouldn't go for it. So . . . he went to bed with the guitar. (Our routine is: turn out the light, sway as I pray with him, then put him down . . . here we are swaying. Of course, I had to get Jeff to take photos. Sorry, I couldn't pick just one.)

Jeff and I went back to the living room once I laid him down and then we started hearing what sounded like a Japanese garden . . . a strum here and bong there. It was so funny! I did get video just to capture the sound, but you have to turn it up all the way to hear it. The sound is at the beginning of the video and then it goes silent. He went through several spells of this that lasted maybe 3 or 4 minutes.

Here he is, asleep. You can see he never let go. I had to go back in later and carefully slide the guitar out from under his arm. It was the sweetest thing.

A GUITAR! (GEE-TAR)

Serif has shown a great interest for the guitar over the past couple of weeks. Jeff introduced him to a YouTube video of E-I-E-I-O by Peelander Z. They are a Japanese Punk Rock band that has come out with a kids album. Serif has been glued to that video since!

When we were in Seaside on vacation, we ate at "The Red Bar" restaurant for dinner 2 nights in a row because he just couldn't get enough "gee-tar" from the live band that played. Since being back home, his interest for the guitar has grown to a full-blown passion and longing for one. He can hear music on the radio and when he hears a guitar, he starts "playing". It's really pretty amazing.

Jeff was online last night looking for a good guitar for him and when Serif saw it, he kept trying to pick it off the screen! We went out and looked at several stores last night, but had no luck. We really just wanted a simple acoustic guitar without all the buttons and sounds that come on the Little Tykes stuff, but it needed to fit his size and be reasonably priced. Today, we discovered Phillips Toy Store in Bell Meade; we will never be back to Toys 'R Us again! This store was amazing! All three of us were mesmerized by the colorful toys that lined the store shelves and ceilings! I think all three of us were equally excited to be there for each discovery that wrapped each corner.

Then once we got in the store, Jeff scoped out the guitar aisle and took one out of the box for him to discover. He passed it right up at first, but once he saw it, he was so excited. We actually ended up getting him a smaller Ukelele since it was a better scale for him. It actually had a better sound too and for the same price as the red one!
