Carousel!

We decided to take the boy to the zoo yesterday morning since the weather was so nice. Jeff decided he'd ride the carousel with Serif this time. He somehow got Serif to actually get on an animal to ride! It was awesome! He chose the spotted leopard and loved every minute! A proud moment for sure.






I love this photo of them walking across the bridge.






We were also impressed that Serif slid down this slide . . . By himself! Jeff went behind him in fear that he would freak out somewhere in between and the boy did great the whole way! Jeff said it was pitch black in there and he was surprised Serif didn't get bothered by that. It seemed to take forever to snap this last photo but so glad I did! That's a really long slide!

Helmut Update

Helmut was doing better this morning. Jeff spoke with Helmut's doctor to give an update and get advice. We're not doing the scan for several reasons but we'll just be monitoring him. His doctor thinks it's neurological as well. There's not really anything he can do in that case other than the MRI scan that would just confirm this theory. I'll post more if anything new comes up.

Tricycle

I'm not sure how this one missed the blog but I'm catching up here, so here it is!

Serif got this tricycle from Santa this Christmas. He's ridden it a fair amount but would always want us to push him around on it. I will say that his legs were a tad short to push the peddles very well but after a while we really started pushing him to try peddling harder. A couple of weeks ago he suddenly could do it all by himself! He's been doing great and can steer well and everything! I especially like this photo because of the combination of beach hat, footed pajamas and rain boots. I guess you could say that's about the right combination of weather we've been experiencing lately. I took this photo in the morning before we left for school and work.


This photo was taken at daycare in the "rainy day room". It's basically a huge room with thick rubbed flooring that the kids can run and play on and not hurt themselves (as the name implies, it's the alternate to the playground outside). He started really riding the tricycle in here at about the same time. He's loving it and if makes us look forward to the nice Spring weather!

Welp, here we go again.

Helmut started walking funny tonight, like he was drunk. Jeff took him to the emergency vet and we were grateful to hear that his liver counts were good. We have to check on him a couple times tonight by getting him up and having him walk. We have to take him for a scan tomorrow at the normal vet. She's afraid of it being neurological. His eyes would wiggle around when he laid on his side but were fine when standing. He's also lost more weight since last visit, he's down to 57 lbs. (was 60 lbs last visit). She said to watch for seizure or comma tonight and bring him back in if we see either of those. I'll post again when we find out something tomorrow. All prayers are appreciated.

Mommy & Serif

We've been playing around tonight and spent a lot of time wresting on the bed. He suddenly got really sweet and started cuddling with me and saying, "Awwww". He's been doing this a lot lately. I love it when he does it because it's just so sweet!




I kissed him on the cheek and told him I loved him (like I always do). Then he kissed me on my cheek. Yeah, I pretty much melted and got a little giddy over it. It the became a back and forth game and we both would giggle from the fun of it all.



He was so much fun tonight. There were so many things he said that was funny:

"I suck on poop." He pooped in the bath tub and was telling Daddy about it. He didn't really do that though . . . I think. He he he . . . ugh.

Jeff & Serif were watching Les Miserables on NPT tonight and Jeff said something about a girls legs, then Serif said "I like legs!"

I was putting Serif to bed and just as I put him down, I realized he needed a diaper. I put him on the changing table and he started singing "I like to DANCE! Go Muno, Go Muno. I like to DANCE! Go Brobe, Go Brobe . . . Go Foofa . . ." It was SO hilarious! He had been watching that Yo Gabba Gabba snippet just 30 minutes earlier.

These are the times I wish I had a permanent recorder in my head so that I could always remember and play back these times. Blogging, taking photos and videos are all I can do. Unfortunately there are so many things I don't have time to capture. I guess I just enjoy every second while it's here and write down the rest.

Oh, and thank you Lila for reminding and inspiring me to keep up with my record keeping. There are some things I'd prefer not to write on here and keep in a personal journal for him (and myself), but most of the time, if I don't write it here, it doesn't get recorded. =/ I do have a personal journal, but find it more difficult to write in for some reason. I think I've gotten spoiled to typing, backspacing, deleting, cut and paste that writing with a pen and paper becomes messy and labored. Such a sad, sad , sad statement. Ouch.

Photos of our day

Getting ready to leave for school in his "Tony Hawk" hat from Granddaddy.


He decided at the last minute, that he wanted to wear my shoes (over his) to school.


This afternoon when I picked him up, they were out on the playground. He was having so much fun that I just hung out for a little while and let him play.


Jumping off mushrooms and landing on his knees/shins.


He suddenly ran to the ledge and sat and posed for his picture. Cute.

Grant is 2 weeks younger than Serif and started to daycare at the same time. I love this last photo!
