A Special Puck

Serif and Jeff went to the Predators game tonight with Don, Shannon and Annie. Serif got a game played and Pekka signed puck from Uncle Don and Aunt Shannon! When he got home, he was so excited to show it to me! He immediately told me what it was and then said, "We can not hit this one." It's going to go in a special place in his room.

Wow! Thank you SO much!!! How special!

A Prayer

Jeff and a serif were playing hockey in the kitchen tonight (our normal nightly routine) when Serif said to Jeff, "Daddy, let's pray!" Jeff was having trouble telling what he was saying so he told him to pray and then they would play some more. Here's his prayer:

"Thank you Jesus for Pekka Rinne and the other team and the hockey game. Come on let's play!"

What's for Dinner

I asked Serif what he wanted for dinner tonight and he said, "Hotdogs!" Then I asked what he wanted to go with it and he said, "Monster food!" I then asked what monsters like to eat and he said, "Salad, french fries and chicken. They put it all in their their mouth!"

The Serif Monster

Jeff and Serif were doing some floor art tonight with some big paper that I had gotten as scrapes from work. It's been a big hit! Serif was wanting Jeff to draw a monster, so he did then, Serif laid down and wanted Jeff to trace him. So he did, then they drew on his outline, creating a Serif monster!

Another first

We've been pretty good about making Serif lay down at night and put himself asleep, until a few days ago.

Friday, I was pitting him to bed with the normal routine of reading books by his moon light, lights out, prayers with a little cuddle time and kisses with lots of "I love you's". Well, this night he was a little sweaty and I was lifting his hair and blowing on his head to cool him down, all while saying prayers and cuddling. Any time I'd stop, he'd ask if I'd blow there some more and would tap his forehead, it was so sweet that it took several times stopping for me to finally stop, I finally had to say the final good night. It didn't go that well as he pleaded me to stay. It took several tries of him getting up and me having to put him back in there and after a couple times I had to shut his door. He does not like the door closed and I can usually just mention that and it will keep him in bed. Every time I'd leave the room he'd cry. It was a torn moment of sadness and melting and "is he just playing me?"

For some reason, this night broke me. I felt so mean and suddenly couldn't understand what was so bad about laying with him until he fell asleep? I broke down as i talked with Jeff about everything and by the time we were done talking he was asleep. Later that night (and the next couple) I caved. Those nights were good. I enjoyed them and I know he did, however, he got up several times each night wanting me to come lay down with him and he wouldn't let me leave until he was asleep. Not so good of a habit to get in to.

This night, Friday, he was in bed and had been asleep for a while. He woke up and came to get me and got upset when I wanted to go back to bed. He started to cry and said, " Don't you want to sleep with me?". Now I had already laid with him twice until he had fallen asleep. Each time he slept for at least an hour. This time I was getting frustrated and I just wanted to sleep. I felt terrible when he said that though. He finally laid down and let me go to bed. About 5 minutes later I hear, " Mommmm-mmmyyyyy!" Jeff bailed me out at this point and I was finally able to go to sleep. Despite the fact that I was exhausted by this point, it was funny to hear him holler for me. Kind-of weird and another moment of realizing just how much he's growing.
