I want to be like her

Serif: "Mommy, I want to be like her."

Me: "You do? What do you like about her?"

Serif: "That she's all naked except that she's wearing shoes."

Nerf

This has been Serif's go-to outfit every night when we get home, every morning when he wakes up and well . . . pretty much all weekend. He gets dressed to go out and that's about it. He even wants to sleep in it.

He also found the nerf guns we bought him for christmas. We decided to put them up for next year (2013) since we ended up with more than anticipated. We also thought he'd enjoy it more when he could cock it himself. Well, Jeff tied some twine around the trigger to create a band he could pull. He's not a bad shot. Not a bad shot at all.

Slime

I found this recipe for homemade slime the other day and decided to give it a try. Serif helped to make and has had so much fun!

You can use clear or white glue. The green was made from clear and the pink and yellow from white glue. It was so easy to make and only requires borax, water, glue and food coloring.

We're storing these in plastic containers but some people use the small jars. Here's how you do it:

Put 1tsp Borax in 1cup water. While that dissolves in its own cup, pour glue, tbsp of water and food coloring in seperate bowl and stir until color is smooth. Then add borax water to the glue mixture and stir. It will immediately separate but just squish together good then drain and kneed the excess water out. So fun and so cool!

Snow Day!

We woke up this morning to snow falling outside. It was beautiful! We immediately got up and put on the snow gear and went out to play. We've learned go take advantage of every opportunity since we don't seem to get much snow down here.

I couldn't resist at least trying to make a snowman. We could barly scrape any snow from the ground since it was so thin, but we did it!

It may be small but it's still a real snowman!

Serif loves sticks. He's always loved them! After several selections that weren't good enough, he finally found the perfect one to plant.

Once he got it in the ground he said, "We're going to leave it there for 60 years and then it will grow peaches!"

Then he wanted to draw on the chalkboard. So he would draw one thing after another and wanted me to tell him what it was after every mark. talk about being put on the spot and challenging your creativity . . .

It's a man. Running. With a stick . . and a jump rope.

Then there was a cross . . .

There was more that developed in to the iron giant with sunglasses but our toes were starting to freeze so we decided to go in and warm up with a movie and breakfast. So glad the snow came on a Saturday!
