Serif's been watching Madonna tonight with Jeff.

Porridge

For some reason Serif really got in to the three bears today. I told him the story at nap time and then he wanted me to read both books after nap. (We have 2 versions if it.). His dinner request tonight was pancakes and porridge and he really liked it! He's eaten this before but didn't like it. I think context can make a big difference sometimes.

Indian costume

We went to see Peter Pan on Friday at the Ensworth Theatre and it was fantastic! Serif loved it and we talked about making costumes during intermission of the show. I just got the fabric and I made him the Indian one last night. It took a little coaxing to make him understand that it wouldn't be exactly like the one in the show but we had to be our own creative. He loves it but is now anxious for the Peter Pan one.


He also made this cool Lego thing.



He came in our room this morning to wake me up wearing the whole costume. So funny and so cute.

Detailed Observation

We were reading "Franklin's New Friend" tonight and when we got to this page Serif made an interesting observation. He asked me about the tinker toy structure. He asked if there were holes in the top peace (the one holding the 3 sticks on the top). I said yes. He continued to tell me that there aren't holes there and they can't make it do that.

Bat Wings

I saw this tutorial on Pinterest last week and couldn't wait to try it for Serif. We finally made it to Joann's to get fabric today. By the time we got home he had crashed and went straight to bed for a nap. I decided to try it while he was asleep and get measurements from his shirt. When he got up I surprised him with it but it was a bit small. He really didn't care and loved it anyways.








I had enough fabric left over to give it a second shot so I got him involved and asked how long I should make it. Here's what we ended up with and the process of getting there.




Nothing like an exact measurement. ;)

Measurement for halfway down his back. This allows for the neck when you fold the arms over.




I used this paper plate and chalk to trace out the wings. I ended up having to start from the arms instead of the tail though. And where's my helper? He just left his remnants.




Here it is cut out. The measuring tape is measuring the fold 6" for the arms.




Next, I pinned the arms so it would hold while I sewed. Oh and dinner time for the boy.




Here it is laid out and ready to sew.




Done!




We had to check it out in front of his mirror.




This fits so much better!
