Cool Moments

We were getting of the Shelby exit tonight, heading home, when Serif looked over at the bursting yellow sun through the clouds. (Photos don't do it justice.). He asked me, "Is God in that big yellow light in the sky?"

Yes! Yes He is!

Wow. Cool moments.

Mud Pie Soup

It was the perfect day for working outside today so we jumped at the chance to switch around a lot of our landscaping. Serif was a pretty good helper but was getting bored and kept wanting to go inside. He honestly doesn't get enough outside time so I was thinking about some suggestions for him.

I went inside and grabbed a couple of bowls, a pitcher and a couple of spoons and brought them out to him. I told him about when I was a kid and use to make mud pie or mud soup. I explained how to do it and he lit up. He thought it was so much fun and it kept him entertained for quite a while. It was so fun watching him enjoy it. He kept bringing me things, saying they were too pretty for his soup and wanted me to have them. I got a small pebble, a mushroom and a bright orange berry. :)

Jeff got the water hose out so we could water the plants. Serif wanted to help so Jeff showed him how to work the nozzle. He had more fun spraying the mud out of bowl. He just giggled and giggled. Then he started spraying the house and got so excited saying he was making a rainbow. I guess it was from the and of the sun. What a fun and tiring day.

Today's Quote

Serif, talking about power lines.
Do you remember when I was in heaven before I was created? That's when I got shocked.

Prayer

Serif's prayer ended last night with, "and thank you for mommy's polk-a-dot pajamas."

Proud Artwork

We went to the basement this afternoon to look for a toy he was wanting and after our search (and coming out empty handed) he decided he wanted to draw on the chalkboard.

I drew a 2-headed dragon (from the movie How to Train Your Dragon" and it seemed to spark some inspiration for him.

He had me erase everything else on the board so he could draw something else. He was in to every detail.

Meet "The smallest Toothless ever and the biggest Toothless ever." (And the 2-headed dragon.)

A trip to Toys R Us

Toys R Us sent Serif a birthday card with a $3 gift card. It also had a message in there that said to stop by the service desk for a special surprise.

So that's what we did. They gave him a balloon and a crown and them made an announcement to the store that it's Serifs birthday today and for everyone to wish him a happy birthday. Several stopped through the store to wish him happy birthday. It was so sweet and they really made him feel special.

While we were there he pointed out all things he'd like to have for his next birthday. (We actually made this visit on Halloween so a day after his birthday. He had already received gifts from us and knew not to ask for anything else.).
He has totally gotten in to monkeys lately. We just checked out a documentary from the library about chimpanzees. He loved it! He played this chimp in the store forever and I finally told him he could play with it as we walked on through the store. He kept reminding me to out it on his list. Hehe.

He already has a "tickle me Elmo" but has fallen in love with the new "hugging Elmo." He asks for it every time he sees it. Jeff told him his hugs if he would hug it first. :)

We were finalizing his purchase when we found this costume at 75% off. We couldn't resist.

Me: Serif, today is your last day of being 4. Tomorrow when you wake up you'll be 5 years old.

Serif: But I like being 4. I want to keep being 4.
