OCD?

Jeff is always teasing, saying Serif is OCD. The past several months, he has thoroughly enjoyed playing with, and in, the kitchen cabinets. We've caught him walking through the kitchen closing doors and drawers that weren't completely closed all the way. There have been times it would take him a few tries to get it closed completely, but he would stay persistent until it was fixed. I've also seen him put a toy in one of his baskets and go back and fix it if it's hanging over the side.

Tonight at dinner we were finishing our pizza when I decided to give Serif some mandarin oranges for dessert. He ate a few, then started to put them on his tray. I took it away at first (he's in this phase where he likes to throw food on the floor for Helmut), but then gave it back to him to see what he would do. A minute later, I looked over at him and saw that he had meticulously placed each slice in a perfect little diagonal, all facing the same direction. Once he had them placed, he finished eating what was in the bowl, saving his "art" for last.

A Very Special Morning

As many of you know, Serif's been a little slow to speak. Back in March he said "hotdog" clear as day and then he said it for a few more times and that was that. He's said "da-da" and a little "ma-ma", "bye-bye", "more" which was stated more like "moow" and speaking in almost a whispered voice, "ti-ta" for "tic-tac". (He loves tic-tacs!). He does a little sign language; more, please, thank you, milk, and eat. We have loved this because it just helps to know what he really wants. This had all started a few months ago, but I've slacked on blogging to keep up.

Last week he said "Night Night Dad-dee" and then earlier this week he's saying, "Hey, Bud-dee".

This morning I heard him waking up in his room and decided to go peek in on him. I decided to take the camera in there with me this morning and get his picture since he was still laying there jabbering.
He typically starts making little noises with his voice like he's trying to talk a little or maybe just to hear his voice. I took a few photos then he decided to stand up. I said, "Hey, Buddy. Good Morning." He looked at me and said "monin". I couldn't believe what I had just heard and quickly switched the camera mode to video. Here is the footage of this very special morning.

The smallest of things make me happiest.

"Night-Night Daddy"

Serif said this for the first time last night. It was so clearly stated and such a beautiful moment. I think Jeff and I both melted.
